Hey!! I'm Dusty Hegge! I'm the owner of Revive Nursery and host of #getplantypodcast. I'm a wife, mother, coffee obsessed, and incredibly passionate about growing well.

Houseplants are a tool to remind us of the power, beauty, and lessons found within the growth process.

Growing is hard. Like so hard.
Even when things were going well it's still and exhausting process to be refined and move forward. And, when approached the right way can be such a beatiful thing!

On Get Planty Podcast my goal is to marry the lessons found between the joy of curating a dreamy houseplant collection and the beauty found within learning to appreciate the growth process.

Tangibly it looks like deep conversations with amazing people pursuing growth, actionable Houseplant care tips, advice, and fun conversations about the beautiful planty world we live in!

Things around here are slowly going to change a bit after reviewing my 2018 (on the podcast!) and talking through my biggest failures and successes.

I am learning that failure doesn't need to own me or define me but it DOES mean something needs to change. So I am gonna do just that with little tweaks to how I can encourage you and remind you (and myself) that you are SO WORTH the hard work it takes to grow well.

A quick raise of hands: Anyone else so, so ready for SPRING!? Because oh man. I am ready.

If I am honest mostly because I am ready to distance myself from pretty much all of 2018. And also because Spring means PLANTS.

Yesterday on #getplantypodcast I shared my most personal, vulnerable, and authentic episode I think I've ever shared. I talk about my 2018 failures and successes. And I get REALLY real and raw about them.

If I am honest my biggest successes didn't get quiet enough time in the spot light so let me list them here.

I created a VERY successful line of all natural soy candles

I loved my children deeply

I invested in my marriage in ways I never have in the past

I had a total of over 5,000 total Podcast listens. I said 1,000 on the podcast episode which I was proud of. But after double checking realized I have 5,000 total listens to #getplantypodcast!

I opened and opperated Revive Nursery for over one whole year!

I drank 7,000 cups of coffee

I built courage and bravery in who God made me to be

I rediscovered my love for cooking and making art

I made and invested deeply in some cherished friendships

I built the courage to go to counseling and get a formal diagnosis for depression and severe anxiety.

I took BIG steps towards healing from mental illnesses I allowed to control me

And you guys.
I am FINALLY proud.

But to be truthful I don't think I could have been proud like I am now if I didn't face my failures HEAD ON and actually admit that a failure is a failure.

To not cover it up but be honest with myself and those around me. To not let them own me but to recognize that failure doesn't have to be crippling - it's simply a signal that something needs to be CHANGED!

So let's be real. Failure is REAL. We try and cover it up and lessen the blow by saying: there are no failures, only learning experiences.

I call bull shit.

Oh my word I pray you learn from your failures! But you still failed. The key about failure is recognizing that YOU are not a failure and that you don't need to let your failures OWN YOU.

If I am honest I let failure control me most of 2018. Fear of failure, fear of letting Brian down, of letting you down. And I messed up a Lot!

On #getplantypodcast today I am being open and honest about it ALL and sharing what God has taught me through a really, really hard year.

It's not a pity party episode.
I pinky promise!

I actually recorded it not knowing if I wasyou'd share it. I ONLY wanted to share it if I felt 150,000% good about sharing it.

Not for your sake, but for mine. I wanted to make CERTAIN that being this real and raw wouldn't add to the list of lies I tend to believe about myself but INSTEAD be able to share from a place of JOY and confidence in God's redemption and MY worth in Him.

How many plants do you have!? I am gonna be honest. I have zero idea how many I haven't but it's not as many as you think. Maybe 20?

One plant or one hundred you can be a plant lady, yo!

I have found that I definitely have a planty MAX. Too many plants and improper ways to display and store them all I just feel cluttered and messy!

So that's your left planty number?
